Baler Belt Cable Care

Presented by
George Croft

Belt Lacing Cables
Inspect the lacing cables weekly. Replace any cables that are broken. The cables are covered with a nylon covering. The laces will wear into the nylon to assist in locking the cable in place. The nylon also acts as a lubricant to prolong the life of the lacing. Replace the cables every 800 - 1000 bales, or when the lacing wears into the metal cable.

Cable Removal
To replace the lacing cables, loosen belt tension. Cut the locking ferrule off one end and pull the cable out. If the belt lacing has worn into the nylon covering or the cables have bent, it may be necessary to cut the cable in more than one place to remove it.
